ANAYD is committed to preventing and addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through comprehensive programs, community engagement, and capacity building initiatives.
Key GBV Projects and Initiatives
UNESCO Spotlight Initiative
In partnership with Society for Family Health (SFH), ANAYD implemented a UNESCO-funded Spotlight Initiative project across six states in Nigeria:
- Coverage: Adamawa, Cross Rivers, Ebonyi, FCT, Lagos, Sokoto
- Focus: Preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against adolescent girls and young women
- Impact: Strengthened capacity of 90 youth networks and organizations
- Services: Peer education and support for young people (age 10-25 years) to access comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and SRHR services
UNFPA Community Engagement Project
In collaboration with Education as Vaccine (EVA) and UNFPA Nigeria, ANAYD implemented a comprehensive community engagement project in Kaduna State:
- Coverage: 10 communities in 2 LGAs of Kaduna State
- Reach:
- 50 community leaders
- 23 law enforcement official responders
- 10 CSOs from 10 communities
- Over 2,000 community members
- Focus: Capacity building on SGBV and COVID-19
- Achievement: Strengthened SGBV reporting system with 9 cases reported

We work directly with communities to build awareness, change attitudes, and create sustainable solutions to prevent GBV.
Stakeholder Collaboration
We partner with law enforcement, community leaders, and civil society organizations to strengthen GBV response systems.
Capacity Building
We provide training and resources to youth networks and organizations to effectively address GBV in their communities.
Support Services
We facilitate access to comprehensive support services for GBV survivors, including healthcare and legal assistance.
